ASBE is proud to spotlight one of the standout participants from this year’s TECASBE Business Pitch Competition — Buhari Abdulrahman, who emerged as the 3rd Place Winner in the Scale-Up Category, earning a prize of ₦250,000 to support the growth of his entrepreneurial initiative.
About His Pitch
Abdulrahman, a student of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria presented a compelling pitch focused on using digital tools to bridge the information gap among Nigerian students. His business model, elbaznews.com.ng aimed at improving access to verified academic content, resources, and admissions information, resonated strongly with the judges.
His idea stood out for its practicality, community relevance, and scalability, all of which aligned with ASBE’s mission of supporting ventures that drive positive change within African communities.
A Moment of Courage and Vision
When asked about the experience, Abdulrahman shared that while there were nerves leading up to the pitch, the opportunity to stand before industry experts and share his vision made it worthwhile.
“It was intense but exciting. I was inspired by the energy of other contestants and grateful for the platform ASBE created,, but I still felt quite calm and confident” he said.
He emphasized that the support from TECASBE would directly help him scale his solution and reach more students with reliable academic tools and information.
