How TEC-ASBE Summit 2.0 Transformed My Fashion Journey – Zaba Couture’s Story
My name is Jamiu Zainab Abisola, a Microbiology student at the University of Ilorin and the creative mind behind Zaba Couture. Fashion has always been more than just clothing for me—it is an expression of identity, culture, and confidence. But like many young entrepreneurs, my journey was filled with challenges: limited resources, outdated equipment, and the constant struggle to meet growing customer demands.
Everything changed when I emerged as the first runner-up in the Scale-Up aspect of the TEC-ASBE Summit 2.0. Alongside this recognition came a ₦500,000 grant that completely transformed my business. With this support, I was able to invest in essential tools—an industrial sewing machine, a mannequin, and premium fabrics—that elevated both the quality and efficiency of my work.
These resources were more than just purchases; they became catalysts for growth. Suddenly, Zaba Couture could produce better designs, faster turnarounds, and more polished finishes. The ripple effect was immediate: my online presence expanded, my customer base grew, and my brand became more competitive in Nigeria’s fashion space.
I remain profoundly grateful to Professor U.A. Raheem (Director of TEC), Professor Foluke Sola-Ojo (International Coordinator), ASBE officials, and TEC-ASBE staff. Your support has fueled not just my business but my confidence as a young entrepreneur.
Zaba Couture is now on its way to becoming a household name in Nigeria’s fashion industry, and I am more determined than ever to provide affordable, stylish, and quality outfits for Nigerians. Thank you for believing in me, empowering me, and helping me turn my passion into a sustainable business.
